Surf Fishing Martha's Vineyard |
|

|
Martha's Vineyard can be such a spectacular place to fish, especially from the shore. You want your time spent here to be productive and time well spent. Fishing the Vineyard can be challenging and frustrating at times. It is important to know what tide and which type of bait or lure works best for the location that you are at. Whether you are a veteran surf angler or just starting out, the Vineyard can be intimidating at times.
Having a fishing guide can be a huge asset if you never fished the waters around the Vineyard. I have fished the shores of Martha's Vineyard for the past 19 years. I was a contributing writer for On the Water magazine and I am currently a corporate member of the Martha's Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby. When not fishing I am a high school teacher, father, husband and soccer coach. I will take you places on the Vineyard that are reknown for fishing and are breathtaking, inspiring and unforgettable.
Martha's Vineyard Striped Bass & Bluefish Derby "For years, the "Derby" has been a time to renew friendships, share a cup of coffee and create memories that fuel the winters exaggerated fishing stories. The Fish
There are several different species to fish around the Island. The four main species targeted from the shore are striped bass, bluefish, bonito and false albacore. Bonito show up mid to late July, sometimes as late as August. False Albacore are usually right behind them, but can arrive as late as September. Striped Bass fishing is best during the spring and fall months for the surf caster. Bass arrive as early as April and leave as late as December. Bass fishing in July and August becomes difficult and a nighttime trip is recommended. Bluefish begin to show up mid to late May and stay as late as November.
